It is a renovation project at Amagi Kogen located at an altitude of 1000 meters in Shizuoka near Mt. Fuji. We aimed to create 'The place where people want to come back again and again'. We designed three guest rooms and two activity rooms in which to enjoy this fantastic location. The hotel is more than thirty years old, and some floors had been renovated from Japanese-style to Western-style already, but this small renovation project was a new attempt for the client to rediscover its potentials. We tried to reuse the original carpet or wallpaper combining past with future, and not forgetting the history of the hotel.
We proposed having three varieties of concept rooms named "Camp Room", "Big-Bed Room" and "Books and Music Room" which emphasise the beauty of Amagi Kogen's fascinating atmosphere. And visitors can spend quality time creating irreplaceable memories with their families or partners in the "Kids Playroom" and "Handcraft Room" as well. We designed the interior and coordinated everything from coffee cups to stuffed toys and the records to match each room's view of the world, and we made an elegant space and innovative place to stay for men and women of all ages. Besides, we clarified Amagi Kogen's personality to add playful touches by using the new symbol deers, which appear every day in the garden, in the website and small article selection.
