Social Base HIGASHINAKANO
ソーシャルベース東中野
築57年の旧JR東日本東中野寮を耐震補強・リノベーションし、シェアハウスとして再生した計画である。
敷地は東中野駅に近く、店舗や住宅、高層マンションが混在する街の中にある。
既存建物の大きな特徴はロの字型の構成にあるが、この内側の空間は外部から感じにくく、中央の屋内廊下によって二つに分断され、その魅力を十分に活かしきれていなかった。そこで、内部を横断していた廊下やエントランスなどの屋内空間を、屋根を残して解体し、庭をひとつにつなぎ直した。こうして生まれた場は、外部から守られた外のリビングとなり、その気配がやわらかく街へにじみ出している。一方で、イベント時には大きな門扉を開くことで、地域に開かれた場としても使うことができる。
室内の共用部は、この庭を中心に広がるよう再構成した。外部空間に大きく開きながら、それぞれの居場所がゆるやかにつながることで、暮らしの中に自然な距離感と広がりを生み出している。仕上げはダークトーンと木を基調にまとめることで、外に向かって大きく開きながらも、素材の手触りを感じられる落ち着いた空間となった。情報量の多い都市の喧騒から少し距離を取り、精神的にも空間的にも余白を感じられる住まいとなっている。

This project transforms a 57-year-old employee dormitory into a shared house through renovation.
The existing building was organised around a courtyard, but this space had been divided into two by an internal corridor and was not being used to its full potential. By removing the enclosed passage while retaining the roof, the courtyard was reconnected and reimagined as a shared outdoor living space. Protected from the street in everyday use, it can also open to the neighbourhood during events.
The shared interior spaces were reorganised around the courtyard. Opening generously to the outdoors, these spaces are loosely connected, creating a natural sense of distance and openness in daily life. Finished in dark tones and wood, the interior feels calm and tactile despite its strong connection to the outside.
The project aims to create a home that offers a sense of distance from the city's noise and density, with room to breathe both mentally and physically.
